Ridgewood and neighboring Glen Rock pair century-old houses with some of the most ambitious renovations in Bergen County.
Old houses, new kitchens
Many Ridgewood and Glen Rock homes date from the early 1900s through the 1930s. Their original wiring was sized for a few lights and a radio. Today they’re getting open kitchens, primary suites and finished lower levels. We bring the service, the panel and the circuits up to what the new design needs, and replace legacy wiring we find along the way.
High-end custom buildouts
Linear LED in the ceiling, lit stair treads, illuminated shelving and cove lighting are the details that make a renovation feel finished. We work alongside builders and designers on custom buildouts and plan the lighting and controls early, before the walls close.
Keeping the lights on
Tree-lined streets look great until a storm brings limbs down on the lines. Standby generators and whole-home surge protection are common requests here, often added during a panel upgrade.
Ridgewood Q&A
Questions from Ridgewood.
Can you work with my builder and designer on a Ridgewood renovation?
Yes. New construction wiring and high-end custom buildouts are part of what Luminous Electric does. We coordinate with your builder, plan lighting and controls with your designer, and handle the electrical permit.
What size generator does a Ridgewood home need?
It depends on what you want to run. A generator for essential circuits is smaller than one for the whole house with central air. We look at your panel and your priorities and size it from real loads, not a guess.
Is linear LED lighting hard to add to an existing ceiling?
It is easiest during a renovation, when ceilings are open, but it can be retrofitted. Recessed channels need some ceiling work; surface-mounted profiles need less. We’ll show you both.
